Trump denies reports of scaling back tariff plans

US President-elect Donald Trump denied on Monday reports suggesting his incoming administration would narrow its proposed universal tariff policy.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized a Washington Post article claiming the policy would shift to target specific sectors, such as defense and energy imports, rather than a blanket tariff.

"The story in the Washington Post, quoting so-called anonymous sources, which don't exist, incorrectly states that my tariff policy will be pared back. That is wrong," Trump wrote, calling the report "Fake News."
