Trump calls for judge's 'disbarment' over hush money case
US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday called for New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan to be "disbarred," accusing him of corruption in the hush money case.
In an very long post on Truth Social, Trump denied falsifying business records, claiming the charges were fabricated by a "corrupt judge" acting on behalf of current President Joe Biden's administration. He criticized the judge for imposing a "gag order" and argued there was no case, citing testimony from his accountant that confirmed the records were legitimate. Trump reiterated that there was nothing hidden and labeled the case a political attack. He claimed that legal scholars support his position, calling the judge the "most conflicted" in New York's history. "The judge should be disbarred! This is why people, and companies, are FLEEING New York - A corrupt court system," he added.
The comment came after Judge Merchan rejected Trump's bid to dismiss the case, which involved claims of presidential immunity.
