Meloni visits Trump at Mar-a-Lago

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni traveled to the United States to visit President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida before his inauguration on January 20. The visit has not been officially confirmed but a New York Times report suggested she is expected to raise issues including Trump's threat to impose tariffs on European exports, his stance on supporting Ukraine in the war with Russia, and his commitment to NATO.

According to the report, Meloni could also bring up the detention of Italian reporter Cecilia Sala in Iran. Sala was arrested in December after the US asked Italy to detain an Iranian national.
