Drone attack in Donetsk kills Russian journalist, injures six
A Ukrainian drone targeted a vehicle carrying Russian journalists on the Donetsk-Gorlovka highway, resulting in one death and multiple injuries, according to RIA Novosti reports.
The incident occurred as the group was returning to Donetsk after documenting the aftermath of shelling in Gorlovka. Izvestia freelancer Alexander Martemyanov was killed in the attack, while RIA Novosti journalist Mikhail Kevkhiev sustained injuries. Four additional media workers were also wounded. Maxim Romanenko, a correspondent for RIA Novosti, reported suffering a concussion and facial abrasions.
Russian media claim the drone intentionally struck a civilian vehicle located far from active combat zones. The attack underscores the ongoing risks faced by journalists covering the conflict in eastern Ukraine, where violence continues to escalate.
