Damascus airport to resume international flights next week
Syria announced on Saturday that international flights to and from Damascus International Airport will resume on Tuesday. The move follows the recent political shifts in the country after the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad.
Ashhad al-Salibi, head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, confirmed the resumption and reassured airlines about the airport's readiness. "We have begun rehabilitating both Aleppo and Damascus airports with the help of our partners," al-Salibi said.
In a related development, Qatar Airways will restart flights to Damascus after nearly 13 years, operating three weekly services from Tuesday. The airline's decision follows support offered by Doha to assist Syria in reviving its air travel operations.
