China: US is initiator and master of cyberattacks

The Chinese Embassy in the United States accused Washington of being the "initiator and master" of cyberattacks and urged it "not to use cyber security issues to slander other countries." The US Treasury said in December that a Chinese state-sponsored actor hacked into its workstations. Yesterday, the Treasury sanctioned a company it believes has targeted US companies and organizations with cyberattacks.

"The US is drawing conclusions without substantial evidence, making baseless accusations and slandering China by imposing sanctions on Chinese entities. This is extremely irresponsible and is confusing right and wrong," Chinese Embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu told Russia's Ria Novosti.
